HD Voice Quality

The voice over internet protocol or VoIP services is preferred by the customers for their high definition (HD) voice quality. This HD voice service works on the principle of audio codec technology that enhances the quality of the voice in order to give the customers the finest communication experience for incoming and outgoing calls.

What is a codec voice?

For those who are not aware of the advancement of technology, the word codec might be a bit confusing. It is a combination of two words compressing and decompressing where co is taken from compressing and dec is from decompressing. In this process, the signals of an analogue sound are compressed into digital sound bits so that they can be used for digital devices such as computers and networks. These compressed sounds can be played directly with the help of a digital device and they can also be saved in different formats such as mp3, mp4, wav, and avi. The difference in the codec formats is because of the different environments that they are recorded into as well as where they are to be used.

How it is connected with VoIP?

The voice over internet protocol services work on codec sound but in a different way. The sound formats that are used for these services are different than those used for other types of sounds. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has set standards for the voice codecs that can be used for such communication services. The codec names that start with a G and a period indicates that it is an ITU standard codec such as G.722.

The audio or the codec voice is also called a band. There are four types of the band that describe the frequency used for the codec as well as the HD voice quality it will deliver. These four types are; narrowband, wideband, super-wide band, and full band. The traditional telephonic services use narrow band frequency, whereas the VoIP services work on the wide band frequency. It gives a better, sharp, and high definition voice that makes the communication clearer and faster.

What is new in it?

Communication is an essential part of every business. It can make a business a favourite spot for the potential customers or it can also damage the image of the company as well. The Polycom HD voice is the new black in the telecommunication market. It is the next generation form of wideband frequency that is why it is becoming popular among businessmen especially for those who are dealing in different geographical locations. Different geographical locations have a different accent even for the same language and this difference can cause a huge misunderstanding if the voice quality is not clear enough to understand what the other person is saying.

Common misconceptions about HD voice

There are a few misconceptions that are very common about the HD voice and VoIP services. Following are these misconceptions and their myth-busters.

High definition voice is costly

There was a time when this statement was true, almost a decade or more ago. But as for today, the high definition voice that is being offered by VoIP service providers is not costly at all. In fact, it costs you lesser than the other communication channels you might have been using for a while. Today, the service providers offer different packages with attractive bundles so you can pick the most suitable service package for yourself or your company.

High definition is modern

As compared to the old telephony, yes it is new. But if it is compared to the digital telephony, then you might think otherwise. The first HD voice calling app was launched back in 2003 and today there are hundreds of them. These applications are compatible with desktop, tablets, and smartphones alike. Not only the applications but also other software has been developed and together they have contributed to the enhancement of the service.

All the VoIP service providers deliver the same quality

The idea that all the voice over internet protocol service providers use the same frequency and deliver the same quality of voice and service is not true. It is as simple as that you get what you have paid for. Not all the companies use the same wide band thus their service quality is not the same at all. That is why it is better for you to do a market survey before choosing a service so that you might not end up facing trouble in communication with your clients and loved ones. When the two users of voice over internet protocol are connected through a call, the quality of the voice depends on the frequency they have on their VoIP. Together they share a common frequency to make the conversation better but if the frequencies are not matched, they might end up facing distortion in their communication.
